Indo-lyric: Hanya Untukmu (Ten2Five)

English translation:

Only for you

Is this how it feels
when I am in love
every take of my breath
blissful...

knowing your heart
shows the beauty of the world
you bring love melodies in my soul

everything that I want
is you
one...
you're the answer of all my prayers
everything that I feel

longing within desire
embraced by love
my heart for you
ooo..heyy...

should I
ask the stars
do I deserve hoping for that love
oo..ooo.ooo

everything that I want
is you
one...
you're the light
in this soul of mine
everything that I feel
longing within desire
embraced by love
my heart for you

only for you

Original lyric in Indonesian:

inikah rasanya
bilaku sedang jatuh cinta
setiap hela nafasku
bahagia...

mengenal hatimu
hadirkan indahnya dunia
kau bawa irama cinta di jiwa

semua yang ku mau
hanyalah dirimu
satu...
kaulah jawaban semua doa
semua yang kurasa

rindu dalam asa
di dekap cinta
hatiku untukmu
ooo..heyy...

haruskah diriku
bertanya pada bintang-bintang
pantaskahku mengharap cintanya
oo..ooo.ooo

semua yang ku mau
hanyalah dirimu
satu...
kaulah pelita
di dalam jiwa
semua yang kurasa
rindu dalam asa
di dekap cinta
hatiku untukmu

hanyalah untukmu

Inappropriate dress at church and The irony of TelkomSpeedy

She wore a miniskirt. Being an open pew-less church, it pretty much showed a lot of “information” for all to see when she walked around.

It would be more understandable if she was a teenager my age, you know, given the freedom of choice of what kind of dress to wear.

But the thing is, she’s still a kid. I guesstimate that she’s around 6 or something.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I have pedophiliac tendencies here. Rather, I wanna pose a question: What are her parents thinking, dressing up their daughter like that for a mass?

They’re giving their kid such a garb to wear, and let her wear it to the church?

Geez. Christians are well notorious when it comes to what kind of dress code to wear to their place worship. Our Muslim brothers and sisters wear polite white attires when they go to the mosque, and similarly our Hindu and Buddhist counterparts have their own strict dress codes to wear to the temple.

But what about us Christians? I won’t look for examples the liberal Protestant churches there in America, because the bad examples do exist in our own conservative Catholic church.

Wearing shirts that show cleavage is a common thing amongst female Catholic churchgoers.

Ugh. Couldn’t they dress up a little bit?

Let me digress.

Do you know the irony of Telkom Speedy? Julz has recently reminded me in shoutbox comment that, in spite of its claim of having a super fast connection speed of 100 Mbps, Telkom Speedy could only deliver you a connection less than 1 Mbps.

Here's the irony:

A couple of random Cs and Lao Tzu’s adage

Cinderella

I just found out in The Jakarta Post a little while ago that the original slippers worn by Cinderella were made of fur, not glass. It was changed into glass by a translator, whence caused the humanity nowadays to accept the glass slippers version. But I think it wouldn’t sound very favourable if it was made of fur… Imagine it: a fur slipper left into the stairs could easily fit into anyone’s left foot, right?

Cyrillic

I don’t care what they say, but Cyrillic would always be deformed Latin to me (yes, please be offended).

Communism

A lot of youths my age always try to look hip and go with the mainstream in embracing democracy. But I always see communism in a slightly different way. Here’s how I choose to see it:

Communism is good, but democracy is better.
Perhaps I’ll elaborate more about this in the near future.

Lao Tzu

Man, I love this guy. I found his quote in a contemplative article that says,

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. People should let reality be and let things flow forward naturally.”

I read that quote like, 100 times in a repetitive manner last night before going to bed, and believe me, it gave me a sense of soothing calmness I’ve been longing for.

Especially after that blizzard I just had a couple of days ago. Perhaps I’d take Taoism as a light reading over the next several days.

Handycraft (sic)

Remember the "baverage (sic)" entry I posted a couple of weeks back? Apparently, the Gramedia bookstore of PIM1 has more than one spelling mistake.. Their staff definitely have to brush up their English skills.

I think they meant "Handicraft".

The term “Perek” as used by Indonesians in Singapore

Don’t hold your breath. The term I’ve just mentioned in the title today is not a vulgar word. It’s not even a euphemism.

Let me tell you my story.

The first time I heard of this term was from my senior who was about to sell me his used textbook. He lent me a sample of the textbook that belonged to his PRC friend.

He told me, “be careful with that book, it belongs to my Perek roommate”

I was flabbergasted. Why on earth would he call his own roommate a Perek? What has his roommate done to him to deserve such a naming?

Of course, I kept those questions to myself as I was reluctant to hear him using other curse words to describe that “darned roommate”.

Later onwards, I found that “Perek” is a corrupted term used by Indonesians to refer to people from the land of PRC (People’s Republic of China). I could safely presume however, that it was inherited from the early batches of Indonesian students in Singapore.

See the transformation?

PRC turns into PeReC, which in the Indonesian transliteration morphs into… what else…

Perek.

Untuk semua anak-anak Indo di Singapur, tenang aja, it’s not that I’m revealing an open secret here. No, of course not.

I’m simply sharing an experience of mine for other Indonesians who live outside Singapore to delight with. Just for a giggle.

And for those of you who don’t understand what the term “Perek” really means, then too bad, because I’m not going to tell you here. But you’re allowed to make your own assumptions though, deriving from the clues I’ve given above.

(^_^)
