If the World War 3 erupts…

and Indonesia happens to be involved, I’d rather fight for Indonesia.

Mind you, it isn’t so much a question of loyalty or patriotism. Rather, it’s more of which side I could give contribute more to.

We all know very well that any country that opposes America would surely lose as proven in the history (the Vietnamese won it back then due to the help by the French and the ingenuity of their guerilla tactics), but still I’d very much prefer fighting on Indonesia’s side.

America looks to me like a college boy who comes from a well-off family.

On the other hand, Indonesia looks more like an infant who comes from a poor family and needs constant feeding and babysitting.

If you’re about to donate alms for your religious obligation, would you rather donate it to that “rich college boy” or the “poor little baby”?

For me, I’d prefer donating it to the poor little baby.

My readings

I don’t really read books nowadays. Both the fictional and scientific types of book tend to bore me. I don’t know why, perhaps a part of my moodiness?

It doesn’t mean that I’ve given up reading though. I still prefer poring thru magazines like TIME, Newsweek, The Economist, or newspaper editorials in The Jakarta Post and KOMPAS.

And for you Jakartans who love reading English-language magazines like I do, you should pay a visit to Rasuna Epicentrum in Kuningan, South Jakarta. The (new) magazines sold there are unbelievably priced at the super-slanted price of Rp 5,000 (€ 0.40). Definitely worth the money.

Indo-lyric: Hanya Untukmu (Ten2Five)

English translation:

Only for you

Is this how it feels
when I am in love
every take of my breath
blissful...

knowing your heart
shows the beauty of the world
you bring love melodies in my soul

everything that I want
is you
one...
you're the answer of all my prayers
everything that I feel

longing within desire
embraced by love
my heart for you
ooo..heyy...

should I
ask the stars
do I deserve hoping for that love
oo..ooo.ooo

everything that I want
is you
one...
you're the light
in this soul of mine
everything that I feel
longing within desire
embraced by love
my heart for you

only for you

Original lyric in Indonesian:

inikah rasanya
bilaku sedang jatuh cinta
setiap hela nafasku
bahagia...

mengenal hatimu
hadirkan indahnya dunia
kau bawa irama cinta di jiwa

semua yang ku mau
hanyalah dirimu
satu...
kaulah jawaban semua doa
semua yang kurasa

rindu dalam asa
di dekap cinta
hatiku untukmu
ooo..heyy...

haruskah diriku
bertanya pada bintang-bintang
pantaskahku mengharap cintanya
oo..ooo.ooo

semua yang ku mau
hanyalah dirimu
satu...
kaulah pelita
di dalam jiwa
semua yang kurasa
rindu dalam asa
di dekap cinta
hatiku untukmu

hanyalah untukmu

Inappropriate dress at church and The irony of TelkomSpeedy

She wore a miniskirt. Being an open pew-less church, it pretty much showed a lot of “information” for all to see when she walked around.

It would be more understandable if she was a teenager my age, you know, given the freedom of choice of what kind of dress to wear.

But the thing is, she’s still a kid. I guesstimate that she’s around 6 or something.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I have pedophiliac tendencies here. Rather, I wanna pose a question: What are her parents thinking, dressing up their daughter like that for a mass?

They’re giving their kid such a garb to wear, and let her wear it to the church?

Geez. Christians are well notorious when it comes to what kind of dress code to wear to their place worship. Our Muslim brothers and sisters wear polite white attires when they go to the mosque, and similarly our Hindu and Buddhist counterparts have their own strict dress codes to wear to the temple.

But what about us Christians? I won’t look for examples the liberal Protestant churches there in America, because the bad examples do exist in our own conservative Catholic church.

Wearing shirts that show cleavage is a common thing amongst female Catholic churchgoers.

Ugh. Couldn’t they dress up a little bit?

Let me digress.

Do you know the irony of Telkom Speedy? Julz has recently reminded me in shoutbox comment that, in spite of its claim of having a super fast connection speed of 100 Mbps, Telkom Speedy could only deliver you a connection less than 1 Mbps.

Here's the irony:
